The Cherry Knolls Veterinary Clinic's COVID-19 Management Plan
1. We ask you to wait in your vehicle with your pet. We will be happy to come to your car and retrieve your pet for any testing, treatment and or procedures. Just call the front desk to let us know you are here.
2. We have placed a hand sanitizer dispenser by the scale in our lobby for your protection.
3. We have also provided a chilled box outside the clinic's front door where you can drop off urine/fecal samples.
4. We are currently scheduling appointments and procedures as normal. We may have to go to a lighter schedule if we have employees out sick. We are taking every precaution to keep our staff healthy, including requiring them to stay home if they are feeling unwell. Please be patient if this occurs and we need to postpone or reschedule your appointment.
5. Surfaces in our hospital that are touched frequently such as counter tops, workstations, door knobs, keyboard, stethoscopes, etc. will be cleaned frequently by staff. Staff will also wipe these areas with disposable wipes in between client visits.
Supply Chain Issues:
1. COVID-19 outbreak has raised concern about potential medical supply issues, including both pharmaceuticals and medical products such as personal protective equipment (gloves, masks, gowns). Noes current shortages are reported by any of the 32 animal drug companies that make finished drugs or source active pharmaceutical ingredients in China for the U.S. market, according to the FDA. However, six of the firm have indicated that they see supply chain disruptions that soon could lead to shortages.
2. Limits on filling orders or shortages of some medical supplies have been reported to the AVMA (American Veterinary M dical Association) by some members.
3. The AVMA is in close communication with the FDA and is supporting FDA's efforts to gather information about shortages of drugs, food and other products needed by veterinarians from independent practices, practice groups and veterinary distributors.
4. CKVC will continue to be in contact with the AVMA and our pharmaceutical distributors to both prepare and notify our clients if there are supply chain issues with medications your pet is currently on, we will notify you and work to find another avenue to acquire such medications. In some cases we may have to prescribe different medications to get our patients through until supply issues are resolved.
In conclusion we understand that this is a very uncertain and stressful time. We consider ourselves a part of your healthcare team and will be as proactive as possible to keep both you and your pet's safe during this time.
